Smart Farm Convergence Bio-System Engineering is an applied science that integrates engineering knowledge and advanced scientific technologies into diverse biosystems.
This discipline applies cutting-edge core technologies—such as artificial intelligence, big data, robotics, autonomous driving, control engineering, hyperspectral imaging, bioprocessing, biosensors, and 3D printing—across the entire lifecycle of agri-food and valuable biological resources, from production and processing to distribution and consumption, to pioneer the future of agriculture.

The department aims to cultivate highly skilled engineers capable of achieving advanced productivity and economic efficiency in fields including smart farms, agricultural machinery, industrial machinery, food processing machinery, renewable energy, and biotechnology. At the same time, it seeks to contribute to social and academic development by promoting the advancement and dissemination of smart farm and biosystem machinery technologies.

Recently, research has been further strengthened in key technologies for precision agriculture–based smart farms, such as artificial intelligence, biosensors, agricultural robots and machinery, autonomous driving, bio-information processing, and non-destructive measurement technologies. In addition, studies on alternative proteins, cultured meat, and 3D printing for the development of sustainable future agri-food systems are actively expanding.
